I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.

You Can't Steer a Parked Car

You can't steer a parked car. It has to be moving to be turned. So get busy pursuing God and serving others, then God will lead you as you go.

Car Headlights and the Will of God

Don't expect God to lay out your entire future before you. Rather, think of God's guidance like a car's headlights. Before you begin a long, night journey, you aren't distressed that the lights only illumine a short distance. You know that as you drive, the light will move with you, allowing you to see just as far ahead as you need to see in order to drive safely.

Who Will You Trust?

Imagine that you are hiking at night through Death Valley, and have lost the path. One of your group says, "I'm pretty sure that North is that way." But another says, "Guys, you know that I have a degree in Celestial Science. I've observed the stars intently for years and can name every constellation visible to the human eye. That is the constellation that contains the North Star, and that is the North Star." Now, which one would you believe? But is it not strange that so many people follow the voices of fallible men, rather than the confident voice of an all-knowing God? (Overheard from Bob Vernon) ? One Stumped Mechanic

Confused about which way to go? Before you begin gathering counsel and listing pros and cons, don't forget the obvious things like diligent prayer. A man who managed professional auto mechanics in a repair shop told me of a mechanic who had tried everything he could imagine for days, trying to trace the problem with an engine. But no matter what he tried, the engine wouldn't start. So he went to his supervisor, who put the key in the ignition, turned the car on, and noticed that the fuel gauge was on empty. Medical Missions?

On Making Decisions Based on Biblical Priorities Josh McDowell asked a Christian student about his future plans. The student said he was studying medicine. To which Josh replied, ?Oh, medical missions?? ?No,? the student replied, ?But if God opens the doors, I?ll certainly go through them.? ?Opens the doors?!? Josh exclaimed. ?Right now there are thousands of doors open. He can?t open them any wider! Why don?t you start praying like this, ?Lord, I?m headed into medical missions. Waiting For a Dramatic Experience?

Making Decision Based on Biblical Priorities You don?t have to wait for a dramatic experience to go into missions. With no clear direction from God as to where he should spend his life ministering, a college student named John decided to find the place that had the greatest need, and a place where probably no one else would go, unless he were to go.
